[Reminder: This chapter has repeated person's perspectives. Don't get confused please]
Vera's Perspective,
Tonight we have to attend dinner with family at their mansion.
My mother is already looking for various sarees for me. My bedroom is a mess already. I crossed my arms down my chest and leaned on the doorframe.
"Mom, stop it. You're over reacting." I shurgged my shoulders.
"Over reacting? Our only daughter is going to get married." She smiled and stood up walking towards me.
I looked away and then at her again. I scoffed slightly.
"Only? How can you forget about her, mom?" I asked coldly.
When another voice came from behind me.
"Whatever happened stays in past, Vera. Right now you are the only one who matters to us. Do you understand me?" My father stood beside me.
"You cannot keep me away from the truth forever, dad." I gave them a smile.
Author's perspective,
Aston looked at his wife, laila who was in her tears. Her eyes glassy and red already. Vera exhaled loudly and walked towards the bed.
"Stop it. Just leave my room." Vera said coldly.
"You won't bring that up again. Never again, Vera." Her father's said firmly and left out of her bedroom with his wife.
Vera sat on the bed limply. She has everything. Money, parents, weapons, an empire and soon she'll have a husband too but still she's stuck somewhere. She will be there until she doesn't finds out what has happened to one of her closet person.
Why her parents keep her from digging, finding out the truth?
The fire in her will stay ignited until she finds out every single truth.
☆
At Night,
At Jeon's mansion, The chefs has already prepared various dishes, Indian, Korean, Italian and what not.
Jungkook was dressed in a sharp all-black double-breasted suit, paired with a black shirt, tailored trousers, and polished black Chelsea boots, finished with a silver watch.
He fixed his hair for the last time when his mother walked in. A beautiful lady with slim figure. She smiled at her son.
"I hope you'll not get in any type of trouble or mission until you get married." His mother said making his gaze stops on his mother.
"I am marrying someone that's something very grateful for you and dad. We never know when danger comes in."
He pulled out a cigarette and lit it up.
"And I have to stay prepared. Always, mother." He took a long drag and blows the smoke away from his mother.
"You always do what you want to." She stated.
"I will." He walked out of his room while smoking.
☆
Vera, Aston and Laila walked into Jeon's Mansion.
She wore a sleek black floor-length gown with a fitted silhouette, delicate spaghetti straps, and a dramatic flared hem, paired with black stiletto heels featuring silver detailing.
Jungkook's parents were downstairs, already greeting Vera's parents. Vera greets them unhappily and that didn't go unnoticed by his parents. Only if they knew, she is always like this.
All were sitting in the living room waiting for jungkook.
"Where's your son, Mr. Jeon?" Aston asked to Jiwon.
"He must be coming-"
Footsteps descends down the stairs. All eyes turned towards the sound. Jungkook was walking downstairs, cigarette between his fingers attached to his lips.
Jungkook's perspective,
I lit up another cigarette when my man informed me that Arora's are downstairs. I was pacing in my room. Nervous? Hell na. Maybe.
"Sir, you have to go downstairs now. It's been fifteen minutes." His man speak through the Bluetooth.
"Don't tell me what to do." Jungkook snapped in low voice and tossed his bluetooth earpiece on his bed and walked out.
I am going to meet her.
Vera.
Fuck.
Why am I even nervous?
I walked to the top of the stairs. My eyes scanned the new figures and glued to one. No, our eyes haven't met yet, but my heart has stopped beating because I know how she looks. Like a goddess.
I slowly walked downstairs and I would like to curse my shoes for making the sound and all of their heads turned towards me.
I kept smoking because eventually this helps me alot.
My eyes stayed fixed on vera and when her head turned and our eyes met...God forbid.
Her sharp eyes already scanning me. While mine were hallow. Empty because My eyes cannot take her beauty all at once.
I swallowed and put the cigarette butt into the astray beside the last stair and walked towards them. I glanced at my parents then her.
I greeted them and took a seat beside my father.
And No, i couldn't bring myself to look at the figure sitting across me anymore. She's too gorgeous.
"Jungkook's here, so let's talk over dinner?"
Vera's Perspective,
When my eyes met his my world spun around. His dark gaze melting in my sharp one.
Appearance? Yes.
Smoking? Not cool.
We got seated in the dinning hall. I noticed how deliberately he was avoiding my gaze or even having any type of conversation with me.
Our parents were talking non stop. Sometimes about merging the empires or how to trap the same enemy they have. Jungkook got involved in their conversation too but not me.
Because I am here to check and analyze him not to have a deal over empire and a mixed mission to bring our enemies down.
I put the fork on the plate deliberately loudly snatching attention and silence. I leaned back on the chair, my eyes fixed on Jungkook who now looked at me too.
"We are here to discuss about our marriage. Are you so nervous about getting married that you are avoiding me?" I asked and raised my brows.
I heard my mother whispered, "Vera..."
Jungkook puts his chopsticks down and cleared his throat raising his brows.
"I am not nervous and I am not avoiding you." He lied. I know he lied.
"Good." I scoffed and sipped some water.
Then I heard, My father cleared his throat. Suddenly everyone's throat developed a problem?
"You both should talk in private." He suggested.
Oh yes.
"I know." I stood up, glanced at jungkook and walked out of the dinning hall.
☆
Jungkook's perspective,
I stayed seated for few seconds then stopped up and followed her. She stood back facing me towards the large window overlooking the garden.
She sensed my presence.
"So, you're Jeon Jungkook." She didn't turned yet.
I walked closer to her figure. Her hands crossed down her chest.
"And you're Vera Arora." I stated.
She turned. Finally. This close, she was somehow even harder to ignore. I forced myself to keep my usual cold expressions.
Her face was unreadable.
"You're quiter than I expected," She said, her eyes flickered to my suit then face.
"So you are." I replied pushing my hands in mt pockets.
She raised her brows.
"You've known me for an hour."
"Exactly,"
She smirked. A faint smirk.
"Let's make this simple and clear." She stepped closer.
"Go on." I nodded.
"I don't care about your empire. I don't care how powerful your family is. And I definitely don't care about whatever reputation you've built for yourself," she paused and sighed.
"I don't want a husband who thinks marriage gives him authority over me." She continued.
I studied her face. She's not nervous. Not at all. She just wants to make sure the man she's going to marry matches her standards or not.
I smirked and stepped closer too. Her eyes fixed on mine and mine as well.
"I know it doesn't. Don't worry." My lips almost twitched in a smile but I masked it quickly.
"I don't need to control you."
"You cannot even control me." She replied and walked past me into the dinning hall again.
I sighed and turned watching her disappearing figure.
Cocky.
Interesting.
I smirked and followed her.
☆
Vera's Perspective,
"So? Did you two talk?" My father asked as soon as he saw me.
"Yes" I replied and took my seat.
Jungkook sat across me.
"And?" My father asked again.
"He's still alive." I gave him an innocent smile.
My parents sighed and Jungkook's parents looked at each other.
"Vera..." my father whispered.
I scoffed and looked at jungkook. He was engrossed in his plate of food and I saw a small dimple on his cheek.
Probably smiling.
I can never believing He's a Mafia Boss.
